Planning
Renovations and upgrades
Kitchen and bathroom renovations, basement finishing and additions all need electrical work planned before walls close up. Tell us what you are building and we will look at the existing wiring, the panel and what the new work will add to the load.
Older homes
Many Kelowna homes have had additions and changes over the years. If you have breakers that trip often, warm outlets, or a panel that is full, book an assessment before adding new loads.
Permits and inspections
Most residential electrical work in BC needs an electrical installation permit. Technical Safety BC (TSBC) says a permit is often required for replacing light fixtures or ceiling fans, installing or moving switches and outlets, and connecting permanent equipment such as a dishwasher, range hood or heat pump. When you hire a licensed contractor, the contractor applies for the permit on your behalf.

Good to know
Frequently asked questions
What residential electrical services do you offer?
We install and repair residential wiring, outlets and switches, lighting, circuit breakers and panels, and we connect new appliances and other permanent equipment.
Do I need a permit to replace a light fixture or add an outlet in BC?
Often yes. Technical Safety BC says a homeowner permit is often required for replacing light fixtures or ceiling fans and for installing or moving switches or outlets. Replacing existing switches, receptacles or thermostats does not need a permit when done by a licensed contractor. If you hire a licensed contractor, the contractor applies for the permit.
Can I do my own electrical work in my Kelowna home?
Only in some cases. TSBC issues homeowner electrical permits to owners of a fully detached dwelling who live there as their permanent residence. Owners of strata units, non-strata duplexes and people running a business from home must hire a licensed contractor. Homeowner work must be inspected.
